Both Russia and the US-led coalition strike Syria. There is a risk that between them could accidentally rise a conflict.

During the last hour, the leading diplomats of two countries discussed how this could be avoided.

Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister: First of all, we were assigned to make sure that the US military, the coalition forces led by the United States — on the one hand, and the Russian army, which conducts operations at the Syrian government request — on the other, established contact and established channels of communication in order to avoid any unwanted incidents. We agreed that in the near future the servicemen would establish a connection with each other.

John Kerry, US Secretary of State: On the one hand, we are not sure whether the IS is the aim of those attacks. The rest, as told Sergey, we have agreed on the need as soon as possible, maybe tomorrow, but as soon as possible, to hold a meeting, a conference with the participation of the military, so that they can discuss what needs to be done in order to avoid conflicts.
